SUN Protests At Slumlord/Lawyer’s Office

Filed under: News — organizer @ 5:29 pm

a team of 15 excited SUN leaders took to the streets today, staging a protest at the James Street office of the slumlord James Medcraf.
Mr. Medcraf is an attorney who owns the vacant house located at 133 South Ave. The property, vacant since 1992, is a dangerous eyesore that is a magnet for trash, loitering, drug deals and public use of alcohol and drugs. Mr. Medcraf, the owner of the building since 1986 refuses to maintain the property and has defied a 2006 state Supreme Court order to demolish the property.

SUN’s Housing Leadership Team organized this protest, led by Ann Reynolds, Olga Podolak and Brenda Williams (L-R), seen entering the
law firm where Mr. Medcraf has an office. Despite being included in
the law firm’s phone directory, the firm maintained that Mr. Medcraf merely rents an office from the firm. The receptionists claim he
ducked out a side entrance when he heard the chanting of SUN’s protestors! The firm’s principal partner agreed to take the
information SUN wanted to present Mr. Medcraf and urge Mr. Medcraf to contact SUN about setting up a meeting. The firm also gave us Mr. Medcraf’s cell phone number. All of our leaders and several
interested press folks left messages on his cell voice mail.

If you would like to urge Mr. Medcraf to meet with SUN and demolish 133 South Ave. call his cell 315-727-5737 or his office 315-472-4481
